because of a fear she almost gave up

it took her falling down to realize she wasn't alone
it took her crying in the darkness to remember light
it took her walking in pain to know love

i saw her standing there
i saw her looking for help
i saw her being who she was

I knew her face
I knew her pain
I knew her laugh
I knew her joy

I know her now 
I know her as the face that stares back at me
I realize she is a strong person who is totally aware
