what the holidays can be

the holidays...mainly Christmas are for most a time of joy and happiness with a touch of chaos thrown in.
many of us spend this time with those we love spoiling them with gifts that we have spent time picking out just for them, watching as their eyes light up when they unwrap that very gift you spent 5 minutes painstaking wrapping. and it gives you so much joy... unmeasurable joy really (especially if it's a child)

but for some it's also a time of sadness...

say you pick up that one gift that would be perfect for your dad and you think "he'll love this" and you go to put it in the buggy and as you are just about to place it on the stack of other gifts... this sudden raw memory hits you... "oh dad died last Febuary" you are shaken by it but you try to hold yourself together (who wants to be the strange lady crying in the middle of the packed mall) and you hold it in your hands for a minute or two and force swallow that large knot in your thoat. and then you place the thing back on the shelf and look to see if anyone noticed the blood drain from your face...

sometimes Christmas is a terrible time you can be flooded with memories of the people who aren't there... the presents that are left unbought... and for some these memories and thoughts can be heartbreaking and almost unbearable.

so remember those people this Christmas and share with them love...
remember to love them as Christ would want us to... because Christ was born to give us hope, to let us know the love of God... praise
